The upset bolt, also known as an upset spool bolt or bolt upset, is a specific type of fastener designed for use with spool insulators. It is used to support neutral conductors or power wires on one side-pole.

There are two types of upset bolts available: single upset bolts and double upset bolts. The difference lies in the number of forged plates at the insulator end.

The insulator pin passes through one end of the thread, and the forged plate acts as a stopper to prevent the insulator pin from moving downward. This configuration securely fixes the insulator pin to the end of the upset bolt, providing insulation for the conductor and secondary service wires. The thread diameter of the upset bolt is 5/8".

At the end of the upset bolt, there is a hole with a steel pin that helps prevent the insulator pin from coming out. The finished product undergoes hot-dip galvanization according to ASTM A-153 standards. The primary function of the upset bolt is to support the insulator pin for conductors and power wires passing through.
