What is the guy thimble?

Guy thimble, also known as chicken heart ring/the wire rope thimbles, is an important connector widely used in lifting, traction, bundling and other operations. It is made of high-quality steel, with a sturdy structure, can withstand large tension, and ensure the safety and stability of the operation. 

It is a kind of lifting equipment for lifting machinery, with a rope groove for the end of the rope to be tied around to prevent excessive bending and wear of the rope, and can connect the heart-shaped metal ring of other components.

Uses of guy thimbles:

It is the mainly used to connect wire ropes or chains to form a stable lifting or traction system. In lifting operations, wire rope thimbles can be connected to components such as hooks and pulleys to achieve smooth lifting and lowering of objects; in traction operations, it can connect traction equipment with the traction object to ensure the safety and stability of the traction process. In addition, wire rope thimbles can also be used in occasions such as building temporary structures and fixing equipment, providing convenient connection solutions for various engineering operations.

Quality requirements: 

1. The chicken heart ring should be smooth and flat, and there should be no cracks, flaws, sharp edges and surface roughness defects that damage the wire rope. The tip of the heart ring should fit freely, and the tip should be shortened to half the depth of the groove.

2. The surface of the heart ring should be hot-dip galvanized, and the surface should be smooth and flat, without defects such as missed plating, zinc particles, bubbles, cracks, etc. The galvanized layer should have sufficient adhesion strength during normal use.

3. The safety load of the heart ring should not be less than 32% of the minimum breaking tension of the wire rope.

4. When in use, the selection of the heart ring should be consistent with the specifications of the wire rope, and the diameter of the shaft pin used should not be less than twice the diameter of the wire rope.
